Summer in Chicagoland

The respite in torrid heat allowed a morning bike ride of 18 miles. As I biked along Fish Lake Road, this fawn was waiting to cross the road.

I think the summer's plentiful rainfall has provided well for the local deer population because I've seen more fawns than usual. The abundant moisture and hot sun have produced a good corn crop, as seen here.

Similarly, the tall prairie grasses, wildflowers, and thistles are still colorful and flourishing, painting the rolling hills with color, the forests are deep green and lush, and the wetlands' flora and fauna are thriving.

I love summer in Chicagoland!!!!
