The 'Dobies

A geographical oddity and wonderment in the area is the "Adobe Buttes" or simply 'Dobies as the locals call them -- mounds of clay or adobe, as was used by the early settlers to construct their homes.

This road winds through several miles of the 'Dobies and always reminds me of a Moonscape, so much so that I remarked that the Apollo missions should have practiced here. (See Tranquility Base over on the left?)

The enchanting sky also added to the fun of photographing these formations.

Some areas are marred by the obvious intrusion of ATVs and motorbikes, no doubt the only vehicles at home in this terrain.
