Triple Birthday Party

We celebrated the 3 October birthdays today at my place -- Linda, Ellen, and me -- and we began with appetizers, including nuts, chips, shrimp, and wine. Left to right, we have Scott, Sarah, Phil, Mom (Edith), Linda, and Ellen, who is regaling the group with a humorous story.

As the Bears-Eagles game began, the disgruntled but loyal fans (Steve, Scott, Sarah, and Kasia) gathered in the family room, and as you can tell from the dour expressions, the Bears aren't playing up to their potential, which is par for this season. Actually, the only time we were all smiling and cheering was during the game's last 2 minutes, as the Bears marched 97 yards down the field to score and take the lead and win the game.

The dinner of rotisserie chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, squash, salad, and garlic bread, all from the magic hands and mind of Ellen, was delicious.

Then we opened the gifts. Linda shows off her bottle of wine, one of her favorite varietals...

... and Ellen shows her box of spices to further her culinary repertoire...

... and Chuck also got gifts but was unable to photo himself opening them, so to see these pictures, go here.
