North Branch Trail & Botanic Gardens

Today we biked 20 miles on the North Branch of the Chicago River Trail (North Section) and Ellen has found yet another "favorite trail" -- about the 10th one here in Chicagoland.

Next we biked around Skokie Lagoons, stopping in at Chicago Botanic Garden, where we had a bite to eat in the cafe and then walked the grounds and various gardens for about an hour. With her love of gardening, this cemented the North Branch Trail trail as one of her favorites.

Here is a picture in the rose garden, which still had some roses in color.

Most of the water features were still turned on due to the mild weather thus far, including the falls and rushing streams in Waterfall Garden.

This photo below is from the waterfall garden and features a huge tree still in full fall foliage mode.

The serpentine bridge takes you from Evening Island to the Sensory garden.
