Disney World's Magic Kingdom..

...is a place I haven't visited in 25 years and it felt like a reunion being back. It was great fun back then sharing it with my then-young sons, Scott and Steve, but enjoying it today with Ellen, who hasn't been here for twenty years, was also wonderful, despite the barely 50 degree temperature. After our "behind the scenes" tour this morning, we were given the rest of the day off along with an afternoon admission ticket, and I briefly visited with Roy Disney and Minnie...

...and was welcomed by Walt Disney and Mickey with the castle as a background...

A ride on the Jungle Cruise with its animatronic wildife was a bit anti-climatic after the live animals of Animal Kingdom, but it was a pleasant ride...

...as was the cruise through Pirates of the Caribbean...

The wild ride on Thunder Mountain was less jarring than the Space Mountain darkness a few minutes earlier, but both coasters brought back fond memories...

...and the music and animatronic antics of Country Jamboree were similarly entertaining.

It's A Small World provided a colorful and nostalgic float through a whimsical, peaceful world, and made me yearn for our planet to exemplify this storyline...

The ride on the railroad and subsequent nighttime view of Mainstreet from the raised train platform also made the world indeed look better than perhaps it is, though the numerous languages heard spoken by passersby do make you believe a peaceful world might one day be possible.

We did an Elderhostel program which took us "behind the scenes" at Disney World for 4 days. Here are those posts:

Behind the Scenes -- Day 1

Behind the Scenes -- Day 2

Looks like you're having a great time - wish I was (still) there (even if it is only 50 degrees)! They must be saving the Magic Kingdom behind the scenes tour for last, huh?

Did you notice Captain Jack Sparrow from the movie (ie, Johnny Depp) has been added to Pirates in several of the scenes. Watch for him next time you go on.
