Dinner Out

Since I'd been wintering down south for 4 1/2 months, it was a treat to get together with Scott and Sarah and Steve and Beth. They came out to my place for a few hours and then we drove to Kobe, the popular Japanese Steakhouse and Seafood restaurant in Lake Zurich for dinner.

In Japan, the preparation of food is an art form and like Benihana, Kobe has elevated it to entertainment, with chefs skilled in the teppanyaki — or hibachi — cooking tradition featuring an intricate combination of presentation and knife skills.

Here we are seated around the cooktop awaiting the chef to prepare the feast...

A favorite is the volcano formed by slices of onion, filled with oil, and then set aflame...

Using his spatula, the chef minces an egg as he prepares the fried rice...

I had the shrimp and steak combo and here it is...

A wonderful meal and a good evening spent reunited with my sons and their ladies.
