Another day, another bike ride, another wildlife sighting...

The rain will be here soon so I did an early 14 miles on the Millennium Trail and ran across our local sand hill cranes again, and again in a different area. Early in the season, they were a bit skittish when people appeared and they would walk farther from the trail, but as the summer has worn on, they have become acclimated to bike and foot traffic on the trail and remain near the path uninterrupted in their browsing.

All our summer rainfall has not only kept the greenery a verdant green, but also produced a bumper crop of mushrooms, as is obvious from this specimen that was alongside the trail in a shady, forested area.

Well, aren't we quite the overachiever! It's noon, and I'm still in my jammies. And I feel pretty great about it. :-)
