Another ranger talk was on the fossils found in the area. Below are 2 of them -- a vertebrae and a molar, both from an ancient mastodon.
A "living fossil" -- so named because it still exists here as it has for tens of thousands of years -- in a Tiger Salamander, this one named Sally Mander. The ranger, Patrick, is wearing plastic gloves to protect the animal from his body oils, not because the animal has dangerous oils.
We attended 6 ranger presentations and all were excellent.
