Soggy Fox River Trail biking

Four times in the last few weeks, we've been hit by rain while hiking or biking, and the weather experts really blew it today! The forecasts said the rain would begin this afternoon and be quite heavy, but no rain in the morning. So at 9am we met Len and Marlene in East Dundee under overcast skies and began biking north, planning on a short ride that would conclude hours before the rains came. Well, we made it 5.6 miles and the skies opened. Len and Marlene had brought their rain gear which they put on...

... but all we had was light wind breakers, so we were quickly drenched and cold as we hightailed it back to our cars. Now as I compose this post at 3pm, it's warm and dry and has been for hours. So much for the "science" of meteorology! At least all the recent rains have everything greening up nicely!
