Concert in the Park

It was a magnificent, clear 75 degree evening, a perfect night for an outdoor concert. My oldest son, Scott, has played flute for 25 of his 35 years, and 10 years ago, after concluding his college degrees, he joined the highly-regarded Palatine Concert Band.

The crowd assembled early, many enjoying picnics before dark descended, and all enjoyed the performance of classical, pop, jazz, show tunes, and movie themes, rewarding the musicians with thundering applause and a standing ovation after the encore number.

The photo below shows Scott in the flute section. His wife, Sarah, sometimes plays in the flute section, too, though she much prefers the piano.
