Wildlife in the 'burbs
Normally, I have to venture into the abumdant forest preserve system in our county for wildlife encounters, but yesterday this huge turtle sauntered across our street, heading from one pond to another.
This Coopers hawk and a companion soared the thermals in Lakewood Forest Preserve near my house, and the deer in the photo below it posed for photos after the final snowfall of the season a couple months ago.
