The trail is all paved and mostly concrete and in pretty good repair.

Several parks are along the trail, but the semi-arid climate means lush green is not visible in late summer (early September.) Benches are abundant and views of the Colorado River are frequent.

Additions to the trail appear imminent as part of the reconstruction of the road, and signposts explaining local history and preservation efforts add to the experience of biking this beautiful area. And the vistas of mountains are something we do not enjoy on our Chicagoland bike trails.
