Grand Mesa

Grand Mesa, just outside Grand Junction, Colorado, is at an elevation of 10,800 feet and a dense forest of conifers and aspen.

It is one of the largest and highest flat top mountains in the world and much of the top and its approaches are part of the Grand Mesa National Forest. Over 300 lakes dot its upper reaches as do many hiking trails.

As is obvious from these photos, the road over the mesa is a spectacular drive, though some of the drop offs might agitate those leery of heights.
